Admitted to the Amsterdam Bar: 2018
Adriaan is a doctor at the LMU Munich and admitted to the Dutch Bar as a Dutch lawyer in the Netherlands. Adriaan specializes in commercial and corporate contracts and disputes in the Netherlands, creating close partnerships with his clients in every case. He is often engaged in legal court proceedings before the Dutch judge and matters before the Enterprise Chamber of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal and as counsel in international commercial arbitration and litigation. As a litigator his focus areas include disputes relating to collaboration agreements, purchase contracts and mergers and acquisitions and directors’ liability.
In his PhD project, he did a research on the issues of litigation and arbitration in international commercial disputes, in particular the Netherlands Commercial Court and arbitration institutions ( NCC and NAI). He comes from a German-Dutch family and is bilingual. He completed his legal training in Amsterdam and Munich. He also worked for a large German law firm in Munich.
He is familiar with the cultural differences between countries and uses this in a targeted manner when advising his clients. He frequently represents foreign clients in Dutch courts in connection with the enforcement or defence of disputed claims, issues of private international law and the jurisdiction of Dutch courts. As a Dutch litigator in the Netherlands, Adriaan is familiar with the Dutch Procedural Laws and negotiations. Adriaan has extensive experience advising foreign insolvency practitioners in connection with the enforcement/enforcement of claims in the Netherlands and issues relating to the European Insolvency Regulation.
